Earl Gray and vanilla pears.
As we would really love you to reuse your candle jar, we will give you some great ideas on how to do this.
As it is now fruit season we have made this delicious "Earl Gray and pear" in our large candle glass .
Recipe is as follows:
What you need for 2 glasses. (200 ml)
1/2 kg pears
1 vanilla bean
625 ml water
200 ml granulated sugar
2 Earl Gray tea bags
1. Peel, core and halve pears, Slice vanilla bean in half lengthwise, scrape out vanilla seed. Cut pod in half.
2. Boil the water with sugar in a large pot over medium heat until sugar has dissolved . Add pears, vanilla seeds vanilla pod and the tea bags. Reduce heat to medium low. Simmer until pears are are heated through approx 5 min.
3 Pack pears into hot sterilized glass jars. Pour hot syrup into jars, leaving 1 1/2 CM. Head space from the top of the jars. Wipe the rims with a paper towel. Put on the lids.
4. If canning for long term shelf storage (up to a year), place jars in water bath for 20 min.
You can storage them in the refrigerator up to month.
( If you are planning on canning the Pears for shelf, non - refrigerated storage, sterilize your jars placing them in the oven on 100 c for 10 min. Once the jars are filled, place the jars in water bath, you will need a large pot and a rack at the bottom so that the jars don't touch the bottom of the pan)
